Cape Town International Airport is Africa’s third largest airport, and is consistently ranked among the best in the world for service in its category. Awards include Best Airport in Africa in 2018, 2017, and 2016 (SKYTRAX World Airport Awards), amongst others.

  • Air Access to Cape Town
    Cape Town and the Western Cape are accessible by air from a wide variety of destinations around the world.

Under the auspices of Wesgro – Cape Town’s official tourism, trade and investment promotion agency – an award-winning air-route development project called Cape Town Air Access is responsible for establishing direct flights that connect the city and region with the rest of the world. The project stems from a collaboration between six government entities and the private sector.

Getting Around

Cab or Taxi
There are a large number of metered taxis available. It’s easy to find one near major attractions or at the airport.

Car Hire

All the major companies operate out of the airport and have city depots.

Bicycle
Cape Town has become a very bike-friendly city, with dedicated bike lanes in most areas.

Train
Trains run basic commuter routes into the city and also stretch out along the scenic Southern line, which stretches as far as Simon’s Town. It is an affordable option to travel around the city.

Bus
Cape Town has a number of private bus companies and commuter bus services, as well as the City Sightseeing bus. The City Sightseeing bus is an awesome way to see the city at your own pace as you jump on and off at your leisure. The MyCiti bus is another quick and easy way to get around the city and surrounds.
