Abstract Guidelines

  • Please indicate whether you are submitting for oral or poster presentation
  • No graphs or diagrams are permitted
  • References are not required in the abstract

Poster Presentations

Poster presentations will be done online only. We request all pictures used on posters to have informed consent.

The poster sessions consist of three components:

  • Provide a one-page poster in PDF format which would be suitable for A0 poster size in a vertical format. Since the poster sessions will be online, we are only accepting electronic posters in PDF format. Printed posters or photographs of posters will not be accepted.
  • You will have to be available for 60 minutes, as indicated on the scientific programme, on the Gather platform to address questions and engage in discussion with delegates. A dedicated online session will be made available for your poster and delegates will be able to join and leave your session (similar to an online meeting). More details on navigating Gather to follow on the conference website prior to the conference.
  • Also prepare a 5-minute video in MP4 format to highlight the important aspects of your research poster. The recordings will be available to all participants for viewing from 1 December on Gather.
  • All posters and recordings should be submitted to sasa2021@sastat.org by Friday, 26 November 2021 at 17:00. If the files are too large to be sent via email, please make use of We Transfer (https://wetransfer.com/) and ensure that the files are sent to sasa2021@sastat.org.

Recording tips

You may use any software to prepare your recording. However, if you are not familiar with the recording of presentations, we recommend using Zoom (https://zoom.us/download)

  • Start a “New Meeting” / “Host a meeting”
  • Check that your microphone is capturing your voice well
  • Share your screen (if you wish to share a PowerPoint or your desktop or any other document)
  • Start Recording when you are ready
  • Stop recording when you are done
  • Stop sharing your screen by clicking the red “Stop share” button at the top of the screen and then, “End the meeting”.
  • Your recording will now be processed and saved to your local computer or cloud storage (depending on what you have specified).
  • Retrieve your recording and submit it to sasa2021@sastat.org or send it via wetransfer.com
