Proceedings of the 62^nd Annual Conference of the South African Statistical Association

Call for papers

SASA will once again be producing proceedings of peer-reviewed papers from its annual conference. Presenters who would like to submit contributions for review and inclusion in the proceedings are invited to submit their papers to the Proceedings Editor.

The deadline for submission of papers is 31 August 2021.

Papers may cover any aspect of theoretical and/or applied statistics but should contain original research. SASA endeavours to produce proceedings of the highest quality.

Instructions to authors

All papers must be submitted by e-mail directly to the Proceedings Editor, Prof. Sheetal Silal (proceedings.editor@sastat.org), as a single PDF document with all figures and tables placed in their desired positions. The paper may be composed using any typesetting software (including Microsoft Word), but typesetting using LaTeX in the SASJ LaTeX template is highly recommended.

Authors must limit the submission to eight pages or less. Note: Differences in typesetting programs makes the eight-page limit difficult to gauge; for the most accurate results use LaTeX and the SASJ LaTeX template available on the website at

Accepted papers

Once the submitted paper has undergone peer review, the corresponding author will be contacted by the Proceedings Editor by e-mail to confirm whether the submission has been accepted for publication. The author will then be given further instructions.

In the case where the paper has been accepted, the author will be responsible to transfer the article into LaTeX format using the SASJ LaTeX template (the editorial staff of the proceedings will not take any responsibility for this task).

Presenting the paper at the SASA conference

All accepted papers must be presented as talks at this year’s SASA conference. If authors are unable to do so, then the paper will automatically be removed from the conference proceedings. Authors of accepted papers must then ensure that they are registered for the SASA conference and that the paper is also submitted to the conference for presentation; this is an entirely separate process to the submission of the paper to the proceedings.
